Lupus Decoupled Drupal provides a complete, fully integrated solution for a headless Drupal out of the box - combining the power of Drupal with a modern frontend!

In this session we are building a ddev-based project based upon Lupus Decoupled Drupal - live! We'll start from scratch and will go through all necessary steps to build the site, step-by-step, so you can follow along if you like. We'll be running Drupal next to a nuxt-based frontend, with working authentication, editor-previews, nice-URLs, metatags and layout builder! After setting everything up we'll go through the steps of adding adding a new content type and see how easy the frontend can be customized by writing vue-components. After the basics we'll go through the steps to use layout builder and Views integration within the decoupled setup.

Wolfgang Ziegler is a passionate Drupal contributor and system architect from Vienna, Austria. He is "Managing Partner, CTO" at drunomics in Vienna.

Wolfgang Ziegler - known as fago in the Drupal community - is working with Drupal since 2005. Since then, he authored a variety of different modules, like Rules, Profile2 and their predecessors. He is past maintainer of the core Form and Entity API subsystems and was the lead behind Entity API improvements in Drupal 8, like the new Entity Field API and the underlying Typed Data System.

As part of his position at drunomics, Wolfgang gained a vast experience in utilizing a decoupled architecture by decoupling Drupal and combining it with a Nuxt.js frontend. Furthermore he is an advocate of DevOps principles and loves helping to establishing a DevOps mindset and practices.

Drupal as a Content Management Framework supports commenting content out of the box. In the free and hanseatic city of hamburg we have a Drupal based system for collecting informal civil contributions. To collect the data we have a Drupal Backend and a custom decoupled frontend implemented with Vue.js.

The content created by the citizens of the city can range from a hundred entries or more. Each of these contents as well as the comments are analyzed manually by one or more clerks. To simplify the process of comment analysis we have developed a Drupal module: comment-analyzer.

This module shows the administrator important information that helps him to analyze the comments correctly.

The presentation will show how we proceeded to develop our analysis model, which Drupal features like the Batch API we used, how the integration with different open source frameworks worked and an brief introduction to Natural Language Processing (NLP).

The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how NLP can be used to analyze comments on a Drupal site. We will discuss the different techniques that can be used, such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and text classification. We will also showcase the benefits of using NLP especially to make the free and hanseatic city smarter.

In conclusion, this presentation will be a great opportunity for Drupal developers and business owners to learn about the benefits of using NLP to analyze user comments. Attendees will leave the conference with a better understanding of how NLP can be used for e. g. to improve user engagement, detect spam comments, and understand user sentiment.

Most people see Paragraphs as a very popular module for powerful content creation. Usually site admins will use paragraphs to create complex content units for building complex pages (by composing various Drupal fields in independent content units). However, from Drupal 8 release paragraphs are much more than that. New version of paragraphs brings some awesome new features like new form widget and library support. Additionally companion paragraphs_collection contrib module adds features like:

Style plugin system for paragraphs
Layout plugin system for paragraphs
Lockable plugin for paragraphs
Language visibility plugin for paragraphs

All this makes paragraphs a complete system for not only creating content but also managing its look (style), layout (grid, etc) and other content behaviour.

In this session we will show you how to set up your paragraphs with styles and layouts and also show you how easy it is to develop your own custom paragraph styles and layouts.
Furthermore we will show you the latest work that went into making Paragraphs compatible with Drupal 10 and the new Claro admin theme.

All this should allow you to develop internal styles and layouts that you can reuse across your projects. Hopefully we will bring you closer to all advanced paragraph options with this session so you can start using it in your next project.

The Paragraphs module has become the de-facto approach to modelling a parent/child field structure within nodes. It's a tried and tested way of organising data and separating presentation from content.

This rigidity can be great, but the strictness is reflected in the authoring experience. Think of it as structure first. You need to know what paragraph type you want before you can produce any content.

Sometimes that's a barrier to content authoring. A lot of content is inherently more freeform. As an editor, you want to start with a blank page, write some rough content, and organise it into components later. You want an editing experience closer to Google Docs or Microsoft Office.

Drupal 10 and CKEditor 5 open up some more avenues in this space.

CKEditor 5 has an internal data model that's distinct from both the stored data and the resulting HTML. It's a document editor rather than an HTML editor. With that in mind, we can define our own document structure and plugins for things that we might previously implemented as paragraphs.

This talk will demonstrate this approach. We'll go though putting together a component that is editable within CKEditor, is stored in a semantic way and is themable with twig.

We'll also illustrate when this is not the right approach, and when multiple entities organised hierarchically make more sense.

UI Suite is a community initiative that aims to provide full Design systems integration inside Drupal architecture. It is designed to target Site builder and Back/Front developer experiences in mind. We’ll focus here on developers.

Since DrupalCon Prague 2022, the UI Suite ecosystem has gained in maturity and lots of discussions happened about the best ways to integrate a Design system in Drupal. From this emerges Best practices.

With the experience gained implementing various private and public design systems (Bootstrap, Material, Protocol, DSFR, …), I propose to present those best practices following feedbacks, evolutions of design systems and Drupal.

This session explores all aspects of the fast-growing ECA ecosystem:

demonstration of simple installation and building some basic ECA models
highlight the feature rich ECA module with hundreds of events, conditions and actions with zero dependencies
explain how ECA models are managed as Drupal config entities
provide overview of integrations with contribution modules on drupal.org
introduction of support tools like comprehensive documentation, tutorials, videos and an engaging ECA community

The history of ECA will also be outlined, as well as the architecture of the module and why it is here to stay. There have been significant design decisions in ECA's 12-month initial development cycle that keep it maintainable for decades to come, while still being heavily extensible and having decoupled and therefore replaceable UIs.

Your take-away from this session will be to understand that ECA is a default tool for every Drupal site and how it helps you and your users to orchestrate Drupal on all levels of complexity, from all the little tweaks up to the most complex workflow requirements.
